Senate Shoots Down Gun Control Bill... Obama Threatens to Veto CISPA

Although recent news has been mainly alarming or sad, with attacks on Boston and attempts to mail ricin-laced letters to Senators and to Obama himself, we have also seen two major victories on this fateful day.1. The Senate, which is controlled by Democrats, fired down the gun control bill- Biden was visibly upset at this, but those of us who saw through its facade of "protect the children" into its heart of "first step towards banning guns" were celebrating. Feinstein must be irate and drunk at the moment.2. Obama has threatened to veto CISPA, the wildly corporate-backed next step from SOPA which also got shot down a year ago- this new bill would have allowed the military or certain bureaus and other organizations to, without a warrant, check through our emails and social media accounts. (They never explained why this was necessary or how it could possibly not violate the constitution.)In other news, the supreme court is continuing to consider two major homosexual rights- related topics, so the next big news may come with their decision sometime this May.
